On April 20, 2026, the girls in our Oh English program came together for a hands-on creative workshop: making slime.
We are deeply grateful to four student volunteers from EmpowHer Club—Gabby, Chloe, Aina, and Rei—who generously led this enriching session. Through the slime-making process, they guided our girls in stress relief while exploring the tactile, auditory, and visual sensations that slime provides. This multisensory experience, known as Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR), became a powerful tool for emotional expression and mindfulness.
Beyond its therapeutic benefits, slime-making also strengthened focus and concentration. The hands-on activities of stretching, squeezing, and kneading engaged the girls’ fine motor skills while providing healthy sensory stimulation—a constructive outlet that redirects attention and promotes emotional well-being. Creating slime requires precision and patience; mastering the chemical balance and material proportions taught our girls valuable lessons in problem-solving, analytical thinking, and the importance of attention to detail.
We celebrate the meaningful connection between our student volunteers and the girls, and the joy that creativity brings to our community.
