The Reverend John Howard Chinchen is the Archbishop of Hong Kong’s Chaplian for International Ministry. He has been a Chaplain at St John’s Cathedral since the 1980s as well as being an advocate for equal marriage in Hong Kong.
Born in London and schooled in England, prior to joining the priesthood, John was a qualified Land Surveyor and worked on many high profile infrastructure projects that made Hong Kong what it is today. On occasion he may still reminisce about the days of building the Hung Hom tunnel, the first tunnel to connect Hong Kong Island with Kowloon.
He was awarded an MBE in 2022 for his services to the British Community in Hong Kong.
